Creatures we meet along the way.
In every country, we’ve snapped photos of all different kinds of animals - furry, majestic, playful, creepy, scary, weird, or cute. They also make special noises - like llamas, geckos, and cicadas - and even have special poops - like komodo dragons. Dogs, cats, birds, and lizards can be found everywhere, but the strange-looking takin are only found in Bhutan.
Our hearts raced as we fed and bathed with elephants in Thailand, spotted Komodo dragon in Indonesia, and swam alongside green sea turtles in the Great Barrier Reef.
Still, Africa provided some of our most memorable animal encounters. During the night from our camper, we could hear lions roaring…from 13 kilometers away! On our 5th and last day at Etosha National Park we finally spotted two lions roaming, moving from shade to shade. We were spellbound by their power and silky smooth movement through the grass.
Leaping oryx, a hyena gnawing a giraffe carcass, skittish antelope, awkwardly drinking giraffes, nearly hitting rhino crossing the road…we will be recalling our African wildlife experiences forever.
