Melbourne, Australia.
Getting from Australia to Thailand was a full, two-day travel affair. We caught a 7:30pm flight from Cairns to Melbourne and landed near midnight. Our next connecting flight from Melbourne to Guangzhou, China, didn’t leave until 11:30pm the next day, so we had an afternoon to explore Melbourne city.
A nice long walk outside was just what we needed and the Botanic Gardens was the most beautiful setting. It was a short but perfectly-situated day trip on this leg of our travels. Plus, we got a taste of Australia outside Far North Queensland.
