Forbidden Cars

I'm not sure what I imagined Beijing would be like, but I can't say it included supercars?!

Our first hotel experience in China came after a couple of vetoes by both Katie and I. I had first booked us a 'quaint' hotel well within our $100/night budget which Katie vetoed because she did not like the panaromic window nature of the bathroom(pic below) in our family room. Upon arrival at the better hotel, we found we did not have breakfast included. I vetoed to pay the extra for the buffet breakfast. I think in the end, we won. The buffet was a highlight and a good way for us to explore a variety of Chinese dishes while the room allowed us to keep a modicum of modesty.

This hotel also happened to be fairly close to the Forbidden City, so we could walk there. This we ended up doing multiple days as we learned you needed to prebook Forbidden City tickets on the first day. On both days we did the walks, it was such an interesting dynamic to see all the supercar dealerships around in a communist country near the former palace of 500 years worth of emperors. I found both the cars and the palace pretty spectacular.
