The Sprint
Lima, Paracas, Huacachina, Nazca, Arequipa, Colca Canyon - Covered in 9 days
I'm writing this post after the fact. I wish I had done a better job journaling at the onset to keep myself true of where my head was at. But from what I can recollect, I was trying to stay in the moment of all the newness being thrown our way. Also looking back and just seeing now we did all this in 9 days, we certainly emulated the hare as we started this journey and came out sprinting. We are doing so much it's hard to have time to do anything beyond just holding on, booking for the next thing, and keeping your shit together.
Here's a brief timeline with some highlights:
Peruvian history at the Museo Larco. (Interesting! but, i'm a sucker for a history museum)
4 hour Bus ride to Paracas with a stop for a horse dance show and a game of Guinea Pig Roulette, which Ari won a zip-line ride! (Campy!)
Paracas
Ceviche (delicous!)
Boat ride to see a candelabra geoglyph and the sea lions and penguins on Ballestas_Islands (Fun!)
We learned what βParacasβ meant in Paracas National Reserve (windy and beautiful!)
Couple hour bus ride to Huacachina
A early evening walk around the oasis town (first oasis I've ever seen)
A long 14 hour bus ride to Arequipa with a stop to see the Nazca geoglyphs (seeing them live didnβt do much more than on a website for me).
Arequipa
Our first night at our hostel/hotel there was a concert of an apparently famous latin singer, Vicente Garcia
A walk to and around Plaza de Armas
Juanita the mummy in Andean Santuaries Museum (fascinating!)
First day of a 2 day trip to Colca Canyon
Wild Alpacas
Chewing coca leaves and getting altitude sickness anyway
Hot springs for a soak
Then, my trip abruptly took a detour.
