Exercise and rest

Hong Kong, China

Off to Jakarta tomorrow morning. Another day with a high step count, plus other physical activity - swimming, interval running on the treadmill, and lifting. It feels SO good. Yesterday was a long walk, VR, and swimming, the day before that was a lot of swimming and another workout. Active days like this are so, so good for us. It’s good for our moods, our sleep, our respiratory systems, our joints, metabolism, digestion - just everything.

This Peter Attia book I’m reading called, “Outlive” makes an air-tight case for exercise, and a lot of it. I knew the protective measures of cardio and especially strength training as it relates to fending off Alzheimers, but building cardio stamina as well as muscle mass and strength elongate lifespan (how long you live) and healthspan (how healthy that life is). It’s as close to a longevity magic elixir as there is.

Our next two days are mostly travel, then…Lombok. We’re all excited to get to the island (any island) and rest. For 9 nights we’ll stay at Holiday Resort Lombok, that’s a 7 full days on the island, plus two additional half days on either side. School, snorkeling, swimming, resting, eating, sleeping. It feels important to tamper our expectations a bit; we’re putting a lot of hope into Lombok. Leo would really love to go fishing as well, and I hope we can deliver.
