Staying in

Auckland, NZ

Rain, rain, rain. It’s rained every day since we landed in Auckland 5 days ago. The past two days we’ve stayed in, doing school work and prepping the website for publishing. Our family exercise comes from the bodyweight-only strength and cardio workouts from beachbody.com. I like it.

I feel mostly at ease. Away from demands, we do what pleases us. Is it the case that the things we must do we don’t enjoy doing? Does the obligation cancel out the joy?

I keep looking at our website. I’m proud of us. I’m proud of myself. I got this going. It was my drive, my momentum, my follow-through that led us here. I researched possible travel routes. I created our master to-do list. I made a plan for getting our house in order. We’re not sitting here this evening in Auckland exclusively because of me, of course, but primarily. And I’m proud of myself for it.
