This trip sucks

This really sucks. I mean, really. This trip is not fun. It’s so hard. So, so hard. The lack of structure, the technology is challenge (for school and travel planning), being away from peers, the stress of everything being unfamiliar, the frustrations of thwarted plans, Josh’s eye emergency, and simply the discomfort of the unknown.

Leo summed it up succinctly, “Mom, traveling is exciting and overwhelming.” It’s true. There are exciting new sites, sounds, and tastes which create feelings of awe and accomplishment. It seems like those are only dots on a landscape in the overwhelm of sorting out details, waiting in lines, sitting on buses, and arguing with the boys about school.

I knew this trip wouldn’t be an endless loop of LOLs, but I’m hoping more moments of lightness and joy come soon.
