Daiva and Loretta

Machu Picchu Pueblo, Peru

Yesterday we spent the afternoon at Machu Picchu, and shared a tour guide with a pair of Lithuanian American women traveling together, Daiva and Loretta, who live in the Chicago area. I sat next to them in the long line waiting to get tickets the other night and chatted them up. I love the vibe of women friendship so it was fun for me to be near them. Daiva married later in life and is a stepmother. Loretta’s son is 41 years old and has two grandchildren. Daiva joked about her husband being a sort of son, even though the β€œbaby train” had left the station by the time they met. Both had perfectly manicured eyebrows, micro-bladed, it looked like to me, and it made me like them more. Something women do for other women, and it worked.
